First Post - Blogs and Wikipedia

Welcome to the CIS 110 blog.

By now most of you are probably familiar with blogs, but if not, please click on this hyperlink. (The word that's in a different color or has a line under it.)

Where you go (or just went if you clicked on the link) is called Wikipedia. It's an online encyclopedia written entirely by regular people like you and me. In other words, it's not an academic text like Brittanica though I'm sure many educated people contribute. The cool thing about Wikipedia is that it's self-governing. Should you write an article someone else may come along and correct it or add to it but you'll know if they did and have a chance to review their their work.

Since Wikipedia isn't a formal encyclopedia you can't accept every entry as 100% correct but you will find information on virtually anything you can think of...and it's free!
